Painting With Embers

I was experimenting with prolonged exposure photography at the campfire the other night and I got a few interesting shots. This image was shot with my Canon T2I Eos Rebel; ISO 100, 18mm, f/14, 30″, RAW image format. With a tripod I pointed the camera in a direction with little eminating light, I reached into the fire and removed an arm’s length stick with a charred end. I released the camera’s shutters and began wildly flailing the smoldering stick in front of the camera while keeping my body out of frame. I kept the stick moving and the embers glowing until I heard the sound of the shutters click. I further tweeked this shot with raw image editing software unitl I was satisfied.
